About Brighton Girls School

Brighton Girls, in the heart of Brighton and Hove in East Sussex, is an independent day school for young women ages 4 to 18. The Brighton Girls’ Institution was established in 1876, making it the seventh-oldest school in the Girls’ Day School Trust.

The school holds a special place in the annals of women’s education in the United Kingdom as one of the original members of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST). The Brighton Girls’ GDST has received an “Excellent” rating from the ISI. As the girls-only school in Brighton, it offers education from ages 4+ to 18. A group of women founded this school with revolutionary views on how girls should be educated.
