About Kingston Grammar School
Kingston Grammar School was founded in 1561 by the Royal Charter in Kingston upon Thames, England. It was originally a boys’ school until 1978 when the first set of girls was admitted. It is a registered charity under UK laws.
Kingston has a very rounded sports programme with the six main sports being football, netball, hockey, tennis, cricket and hockey. Because of its focus on sports, the school has produced a wide range of professional athletes.

Admissions
The entry points of admission is 10+, 11+, 13+ and 16+. For applications into 12+ or 14+, contact the registrar.
10+ deferred examinations is for pupils in Year 5 at the time of the assessments. It helps them secure a place in 11+ early. If a pupil accepts a place from the 10+ exam, they won’t need to sit the 11+ exam the following year, unless they are aiming to achieve a scholarship or assistance with school fees. Registration deadline for entry into September 2024 for 10+ is 25th November 2022, while that of 11+ for entry in September 2023 is 10th October 2022.
Up to 10 places are available for pupils in 13+, and up to 50 places for Sixth Form pupils. At 16+ pupils are expected to have achieved high GCSE grades in the subjects they wish to study at A level.
Entrance exams and interviews
Pupils who wish to enter in 11+ will sit exams in English, and Mathematics. One-to-one interview will take place with the pupil and a staff member if the pupil has done well in these examinations. The interview could be that of a general nature or with English and Mathematics. Exams are held on the 4th November 2022.
10+ students will sit exams in English and Mathematics. These papers will be in line with age-appropriate National Curriculum Levels. Successful candidates will be invited back for an interview in January.
13+ students will sit exam papers in Mathematics and English in November when they are in Year 8. Successful applicants will be invited for a subject-based or general interview.
