About South Hampstead High School

South Hampstead High School was founded in 1876 and is the ninth school to be established by the Girls’ Public Day School Trust (GDST). As part of the GDST it aims to prepares girls for life and work in the ever-changing world and so places emphasis on engaging local communities, academic achievements, opportunities and expeditions. 

Is South Hampstead High School good for you?

In 2019, South Hampstead High School was placed at number 13 in the country for A-level results based on data collected by the Independent Schools Council (ISC).

South Hampstead takes all-around education seriously. They are trained to thrive in different fields. The school has raised athletes, drummers, poets, and more. 

The school has selected open days for parents who would like to see the school and interact with teachers and other students. Open days for those in junior school (4+ and 7+) took place in March. The open day for senior school (11+ ) will hold Wednesday, 28th September 2022, Monday 3rd October and Wednesday, 9th November 2022. The open day is only accessible to those who registered their daughters. 

The sixth form open evening will take place in September 2023. 

Admissions

The entry points for admission are 4+, 7+, 11+ and 16+. Registration for 2023 are open. The registration fee is £150 and is non-refundable. 

There are only 24 places available for students in 4+ and 7+. The registration for September 2023 for 4+ is currently open and closes 28th September 2022. 

For 7+, registration for entry in September 2023 closes October 7, 2022. All applicants will need to provide a reference from their current school to be invited for assessment. 

There are 55 places available to 11+ pupils. Registration for entry in September 2023 ends November 11, 2022. 

Registration for entry into Sixth Form ends October 7, 2022. Interviews will be held in mid-November. 

Entrance Exams and Interviews

The first assessment for 4+ will be a play-date session in small groups. This will take place in November 2022. The second assessment will take place in January 2023. 

There are two assessments for 7+. The first assessment will hold in November 25, 2022 and includes Maths, creative writing, reading, comprehension as well as collaborative exercises. The second assessment holds in January 2023 as a group session. 

Entrance exams for 11+ will hold early December (exact dates to be communicated later) , and interviews will be conducted in January 2023. Check this link for more information. Students who apply for a bursary and in receipt of income support will have the registration fee of £150 waived off. 

16+ girls will sit entrance exams in three subjects alongside a general paper.
